Y'all, yes! I love this reminder. We DO need to make sure we're taking time for ourselves. And since y'all know I'm all about keeping it real, here are the three things I'm going to try to do this summer (and Nikki, I love you, girl, but I ain't doing no dang birdwatching) 😂.
\nTravel
\nOne of my absolute favorite things to do is travel (without my kids...and, honestly, sometimes without my husband, let’s be real). As of right now I have four trips planned for the rest of the year and I will not be taking work with me.
\nCocktails
\nY'all know I love a good cocktail, that's no secret. However, I want to schedule more simple meetups with friends and clients alike — with a glass of bubbly, obviously. Soooo, reply back to this email to schedule a time to get together and your drink is on me! Seriously. Let's do it!
\nBooks
\nI typically alternate between a business book and a book for fun, but I've fallen a bit off the bandwagon of reading because of life, kids, the usual May mayhem. But after reading Nikia’s message above, I’m thinking it may be time to pick up a couple more books for leisure. Who's got a good suggestion? I love a good murder mystery that keeps you guessing until the end.
\nNikia’s message was just what I needed to hear going into summer — and I’m sure I’m not the only one. So, what business owner friend do you know who needs a bit of encouragement to have a bit of summer leisure this year?? We’ve all got someone, and I want y’all to send this email to them. I mean, we all need a little pick me up this time of year, so let’s share the love.

July 2025 Y’all really loved the email topic last month, so I’m going to dig into another aspect of PR for small business today — pitching yourself to media. If you missed last month’s email, I’ve put the info together into a blog so it’s easy to find and share. There are great first steps to pitching yourself that you need to check out. Read it here. Even without a PR background or degree, you can do your own PR — I would argue you need to — but you have to dedicate time and effort to it....
June 2025 Summer is here. Kids are home. Are we losing our minds yet? Jk jk. But for real, for many of us, summer isn’t the time to do major heavy lifting with our businesses. So, this month I wanted to share 5 simple — but so freaking effective — PR strategies that you could easily implement. Let’s do it. Set up a testimonial input form — and ask clients/customers to fill it out Your customers and clients are absolutely one of your biggest assets when running a small business. And you should...
April 2025 Yea. I said it. Perfection ≠ a good business owner. Trust me. I spent way too long chasing that before I finally said to hell with it and got to work on just doing the dang thing. Last year, my business wasn’t perfect. It was an absolute struggle, and I was stressing over everything all day every day, even losing my mind if I didn’t complete my task list. Needless to say, it wasn’t helping anything. Perfection is an ideal that doesn’t exist. We’ve made it up and we hold ourselves...
